  MACHINE MEN

When Machine Men released their debut album a couple of years ago, they walked a notably thin line between originality and downright stealing from a certain time-honoured British heavy metal group. To pay respect to Iron Maiden is one thing: making original and fascinating material that successfully draws on their musical heritage is another. But if you listen them carefully, it becomes clear that this Central Finland-based band is sharp enough to persist the comparisons with Maiden. One is even tempted to say that they are just as good as their idols.

Machine Men are not just skilled musicians and songwriters, they also possess a clear idea as to what classic heavy metal should sound like. Instead of double bass drums and lots of clever guitar tricks Machine Men relies on such assets as careful song construction and, even more importantly, their amazingly talented vocalist Antony whose voice can easily reach Dickinson-style spheres.
