11:52 A pre-party, party

I know something is in the air on Friday morning. I can't quite place it, until three shirtless guys come stumbling from the lake at 9 am Friday morning. 9am? On a workday? Well, yes, if you're job is to party your ass off for the next couple of days. And so it begins. By 2pm there are people sleeping on the streets, perhaps a little too excited for the events at hand. Whatever it is, this sleepy town of Joensuu has experienced an awakening seen only once a year. For two days this little place will be the center of the world for the 20,000 or so folks who are here to enjoy the music, the weather, the beer and the sausage. The mood in the air is hedonistic in the extreme and it's infectous. Ilosaari Rock is set to begin in a few minutes, but the party started well before that. Cheers, people.
