DON JOHNSON BIG BAND

This is Don Johnson Big Band's sixth time at Ilosaarirock in a row, which is telling evidence of the band's popularity in this country. And yet none of the six successive performances have been or will be the same: this band's capacity for change is simply chameleon-like.

Don Johnson Big Band is one of those bands who make records when they feel like it, not when the record company expects them to. Therefore, one should not be surprised by the fact that the follower to the band's great success Breaking Daylight (2003) was on its way for three long years. This spring, however, brought an end to the lengthy wait, as the band's third, self-titled album was finally released in April.

Anyone who expects Don Johnson Big Band's gig at Sulo club to be anything else than a perfect jackpot must be a hopeless wet-blanket cynic who is probably allergic to summer festivals anyway.
