INSOMNIUM

Insomnium celebrates its tenth anniversary next year. During that time, they have travelled a long path from the gutters of Joensuu to world-wide success. So far, they have recorded two acclaimed albums (In the Halls of Awaiting, 2002 and Since the Day It All Came Down, 2004) for a British label and toured Finland, Russia and the United Kingdom.

The core of Insomnium's material is pure Scandinavian death metal zested with unique ingredients. The complex structure of the songs refers to prog rock, but also folk music influences are clearly there. Delicious guitar harmonies make a fine background for the awesome death grunt of the singer/bassist Niilo Sevänen. Earlier this year, Insomnium finished the recordings of their third album Above the Weeping World, which will be released in October.
