Four fifths of Vihreä Maa used to play ska rock in the Joensuu-based band Monica's Lips. One day, they felt that kind of music to have ceased to kindle their passion the way it used to, and it was time to move on. For a moment, each of the old buddies went their separate ways, until in 2006 they were back together again, this time trying a new kind of tune.

In spite of its short history so far, Vihreä Maa has proven to be one of the most promising new bands in Joensuu. The explanation is readily available for anyone listening to their music: it's fresh, it uses its influences (power pop, Sixties rock classics) in a clever way, it's energetic, it's catchy, it's got great melodies. This is music that cheers you up in the moment of despair, or makes your happy days just perfect.
