Comeback Kid

Comeback Kid (CAN)

Six years after it first came into existence, Winnipeg-based Comeback Kid finally finds its way to Finland. Ardent believers in the solid basics of hardcore, this foursome lists such acts as Nirvana, Madball and Anthrax as their main influences. From those names it's easy to see that the band's members belong to a generation that went through their growing pains listening to the classic noise acts of 1980s and 1990s, but in their own music, they clearly have their fingers on the pulse of the moment.

Comeback Kid was originally founded in 2002. The two guitarists, Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert, used to belong – as they still do – to a metalcore band called Figure Four. But what was originally intended as a side project has already for some time been their main job, as Comeback Kid has travelled the world as the support act of some living legends, such as Gorilla Biscuits and last year's Ilosaarirock Festival guest Sick of It All. In a manner tried and tested by their spiritual fathers, Comeback Kid relies on a vigorous no-frills attitude both onstage and on the record. Their latest album Broadcasting... from 2007 is a showpiece of world-class modern hardcore, and such minor discomforts as changes in the band's line-up have not been allowed to be heard in the intensive end product.
