Kari Peitsamo

Kari Peitsamo

Kari Peitsamo is the Finnish Grand Old Man in numerous respects: of the Finnish rock music as a whole, of the Finnish Southern Boogie, of the Finnish art rock... in short, he's a walking, living, performing Icon (and a gravedigger and an aspiring politician in his more private life). He can be disarmingly sympathetic and have the world at his feet at the same time, yet he's always "taking care of business", just like it read on the belt buckle worn by Elvis.

Not all Kari Peitsamo's albums have been massive successes sales-wise, but then again, over the course of his 30-year career he has released more than 40 full-length albums in English and Finnish, and it's not unusual for him to put out several records a year. Of his more recent works we could single out The Second Coming of Mr. Jesus H. Christ, the critically acclaimed result of cooperation with his younger soulmates of Risto fame. And if after all these rock-solid facts you still need one more reason to see this man live, maybe this nugget of information does it: almost invariably, Peitsamo plays whatever songs the audience can think of requesting him. Now, come on, what more can you possibly hope for?
