Tunnelmissa Reggae Disco

Besides Rento Stage, this summer the Ilosaarirock Festival beach area is also home to Tunnelmissa Reggae Disco, hosting a number of Finnish reggae sound systems and DJs.

Sound systems are an essential part of the Jamaican reggae music culture. Sounds, as they are commonly known, could best be described as the Jamaican version of a mobile disco. The parties arranged by sound system DJs are typically not restricted to any single reggae style, so often the best bits can be anything from softly swinging rocksteady rhythms to intense dancehall beats, and the song choices can cover the cornerstone tracks of reggae as well as the latest hits of the genre.
