Tuomari Nurmio

Tuomari Nurmio

Next year, it will be thirty years since the release of Tuomari Nurmio's (also known as Judge Bone when he sings in English – and yes, before you ask, he is indeed a judge by training) debut album Kohdusta hautaan. It's simply gobsmacking to think about everything that the man has been up to during that time. He has reinvented himself time and again, and recorded fifties-style rock'n'roll, forest blues, tangos, children's songs (albeit very strange ones that wouldn't necessarily be fit for any kid's ears), called himself the King of Karaoke, played with big and tiny combos, played solo on the Main Stage of Ilosaarirock Festival with only his guitar as a companion, and what not.

Tuomari Nurmio is an icon with more charisma than what is generally allowed for one person. At the Sulo Club he is very probably going to play another ruggedly sublime gig, with a heady dose of songs that have, at some point or another during these three decades, been ineradicably written on this nation's collective hard disk.
