Radiopuhelimet

Perseverance from the North

The greatest rock band in Finland, Radiopuhelimet, shows no signs of aging or slowing down in spite of their almost 25-year-long history of arctic racket. Time and again, the high priest from Hell that is vocalist J. A. Mäki and his faithful backing band Mällinen–Katz–Annunen–Raatikainen show the young ones how rock'n'roll is played with style and vigour. Over time, the band's music has developed from straight punk to a fiendishly groovy funk rock, but the attitude and the mercilessness are still there. Both on record and onstage, Radiopuhelimet is like a well-directed fist straight to your face.

Ilosaarirock Festival welcomes Radiopuhelimet in a blissful state where they have just given birth to their aptly-named twelfth studio album Radiopuhelimet rakastaa sinua ("Radiopuhelimet Loves You"). The time may pass, but the stupidity content of the world remains constant and the final tailspin is just accelerating. These days, Radiopuhelimet's music is needed more than ever.
