Ukkosmaine

Catchy synth pop and unrestrained love for one's hometown

Two men and a synth. The taste of strawberries, the summer vacation about to begin. The first love waiting just around the corner, or if not love, at least a big crush. Flushed cheeks and butterflies in the stomach. A small sweat drop on the lips, a slight lick and we’re off...

Ukkosmaine equals the euphoria of youth, happiness and friskiness. Ukkosmaine's gig is the perfect occasion to fling away negative thoughts and everyday worries and to be a bit silly. The world isn't such a serious place after all! The songs of Wilhelm Meister and Klaus Thunder are about the things that really matter, such as being 14 and falling in love, the eternal aceness of Haddaway and, of course, the Niinivaara suburb in Joensuu. The music – homespun dancepop with not-too-posh keyboards and irresistibly catch choruses – goes to your head like a bottle of tacky but heady alcopop. If you’ve never experienced a gig by Ukkosmaine, we recommend you do it at Ilosaarirock Festival. The Joensuu boys are guaranteed to make the whole festival area echo with singalong choruses and the sound of stamping feet. And the big crush just might be waiting for you in the front row, you never know!
