The new look and the first performers revealed

Ilosaarirock Festival reveals its new, fresh look for the summer 2010 and announces its first performers. The festival will be held from 16th to 18th July in Joensuu, Finland. True to its style, the festival will again bring you a fantastic variety of music ranging from chill-out rhythms to heavier grunting.

In July, Ilosaarirock Festival is going to present the punk rock veterans Bad Religion (US), instrumental hiphop star DJ Shadow (US), experimental electronic rock band UNKLE (LIVE) (UK), melancholic metal group Katatonia (SWE), engaging singer-songwriter Imogen Heap (UK) and hardcore punk band Rise and Fall (BE). The stars of Rento Stage include the Jamaican reggae artist Queen Ifrica and the hellish horn section from Serbia, Boban I Marko Markovic Orkestar.

As for Finnish groups, Ilosaarirock Festival presents shows by such unmissable bands as Amorphis, Insomnium and Lapko. The search for performers continues as, again, more than 70 bands will take to the stage during the three-day festival.

"The programme is about halfway finished and we're still working hard on it. Even now, we've managed to establish that Ilosaarirock Festival will stay true to its trademark style and host plenty of exciting groups and artists, rising stars and fixed figures alike. We leave the megastars for others and focus on finding the best acts from the marginal," says Panu Hattunen from Joensuu Pop Musicians' Association.

The festival line-up will be finalised during the spring. Ticket sales will open later in the spring. More information about the bands and the tickets can be found on the festival website
