Ilosaarirock Festival is sold out

All 21,000 two-day entrance tickets to Ilosaarirock Festival, taking place in Joensuu, Finland between July 16th and 18th, are now sold out. There will be no tickets on sale at the festival gates during the festival. Ilosaarirock Festival has been sold out every year since 1998. This summer, the festival's super-attractive line-up helped to sell the tickets quicker than last year.

— We feel quite relieved here at the festival office. Due to overheated market and ongoing economic recession, festivals and other mass events have been in real trouble this year. That makes us all the happier for having sold out the tickets faster than last summer, says Markku Pyykkönen, Executive Director of Joensuu Pop Musician's Association.

A handful of club tickets still available

Despite the rumours to the contrary, it is still possible to buy tickets for Sulo and Töminä Clubs that begin the festival on Friday 16th July. Both clubs take place within the festival area, as Töminä Club has been moved from the ice rink to Sue Stage. The number of tickets on sale for Sulo Club is 7,000. Another 3,000 tickets are on sale for punk rock club Töminä that hosts nine bands, one of which is Joensuu-based Wasted.

— Both Sulo and Töminä have been selling at record speed. However, contrary to the rumours that have been circulating in the web, there are still tickets available for both clubs. It seems that a handful of club tickets will be left for sale at the club entrances, which means that it pays off to come to Joensuu already on Friday, says Pyykkönen.
