Minš ja Ville Ahonen

A sore point in the soul

Minš ja Ville Ahonen, a band from Helsinki, Finland, released their debut album last year and right away created a buzz in the media and music circles. All sorts of media ranging from morning shows to music magazines discussed their lyrics and the unique presence that is characteristic to their music. And no wonder. Although concerning gay uncles and mermaids stabbed in the face, their lyrics are extremely mature and thought-provoking. Ville Ahonen's vulnerable yet confident style and impressive compositions make you sink deep into the atmosphere of the album.

It is quite difficult to fit Ville Ahonen into a specific genre. The ambitious songs have influences from folkish music such as Antony & The Johnsons but have elements from punkish "not giving a damn" rock, too. Their music is intelligent but at the same time very touching. The songs make their way so deep into the soul that it hurts. And yet, they make you feel good. We highly recommend you to see this gig. It is extremely rare to witness anything this charismatic, beautiful and disturbing.
