GG Caravan drew a full crowd

Whoah, that was some gig! GG Caravan played a breathtakingly good set at the Rento Stage at Ilosaari. There’s got to be some magic in that stage, every band that plays there is so great. Or maybe the bands are just so good? GG Caravan certainly was.

This Finnish supergroup boasts ten musicians and four MC’s, which is all worthwhile: the sound is big and rich. Paleface, Tommy Lindgren, Redrama and Brandon, all Finnish rap artists, take care of the rapping duties; other members include top-notch Finnish musicians. The style is hiphop with influences from gypsy music and folk music, and they’re pretty good at languages as well: they perform in Finnish, English and Swedish.

I’m sure the gig at Ilosaari will be remembered by the audience and the band alike. The audience was alive with excitement through the gig, shouting, clapping and waving their hands. The forte for GG Caravan was interaction with the audience: they engaged the audience and got an enthusiastic response.

Four MC’s wasn’t enough: the band invited four guest MC’s to join them. Altogether eight rappers made the stage a little bit crowded, but their version of Rapper’s Delight had the audience in a state of exhilaration. They did another cover of Beastie Boys’ Sabotage as well. Their own songs also went down well and the beach was full to the brim with viewers. There should have been more of this!
