Tarrus Riley (JAM/USA)

Tarrus Riley

Tarrus Riley was born in Bronx, with roots deep in Rastafarianism. The Jamaican-American reggae singer released his debut album Challenges in 2004, but he's been singing on records since he was a teenager. After all, as a son of reggae singer Jimmy Riley, known from The Uniques, music and Rastafarianism are in his blood.

Tarrus Riley's music is called healing music for a reason. His tender songs rejuvenate the soul and lead the listener into a state of bliss, just like the evening sun shining upon the Rento Stage. His powerful voice rivals the soul greats, but what he is known for is bringing the Jamaican lovers rock style up to date. With his magnificent voice, Tarrus Riley updates the wistful and beautiful style of the lovers rock, seasoning it with the flavours from roots reggae and dancehall.

Tarrus Riley has had hits on both the Jamaican and the United States' reggae charts. These days he mostly tours the Caribbean and the North America and comes to Europe only once a year for the most important reggae festivals. It was a high time to get him to Finland and on the Rento Stage.
