Trentemøller (DEN)

Anders Trentemøller's long career in electronic music has taken him all the way from the basements of his home Copenhagen to the clubs of Berlin and the main stage of Roskilde Festival. Instead of churning out albums like sausages, he likes to deliver a carefully crafted jewel every few years, and The Last Resort (2006) and Into the Great Wide Yonder (2010) have already become classics of experimental electronic music.

Trentemøller's unique style is a combination of minimalistic ambient music, twangy guitars and, as last autumn's album Lost shows, more and more of the basic building blocks of indie rock. The vast number of artists that contributed to Lost featured, not surprisingly, even a handful of indie pop veterans such as Blonde Redhead's Kazu Makino and The Raveonettes' Sune Rose Wagner.

Trentemøller's live act is an irresistible mish-mash of rock-flavoured electronica, heart-breaking beauty, lucid pop tunes and shameless disco beats. The ensemble to be seen at Ilosaarirock Festival will be one glued together by the Lost tour that began in the previous autumn, guaranteed to be capable of delivering the Morriconesque glory of The Mash and The Fury, the pop pearls of Gravity and the rhythm explosions of Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!! in all their splendour.
