Of all few Finnish rock icons, Ismo Alanko has a special place within the heart of Joensuu. It was here where he started Hassisen Kone and in here he will be greeted like a hero during this summer's Ilosaarirock. Hassisen Kone and Sielun Veljet would be more than enough to cement Alanko's place as one of the evergreens of Finnish rock. His solo career, spanning from the early 90s to this day, makes it absolutely clear even for the most hardened naysayer.

To our delight, Alanko's creativity shows no signs of depletion. Last year's Ismo Kullervo Alanko, named after the artist himself, brings forth the more beautiful and thoughtful sides of Alanko's music. These tones should soothe the amped up minds of the festival crowd in midst of a hectic weekend. Welcome, Ismo. We've been waiting for you.
