Djent is an onomatopoetic word which imitates a heavily distorted, palm-muted low pitch guitar sound. The tesseract or 4D-hypercube is the four-dimensional analog of the cube. This might sound slightly too complex, but if you take a listen to TesseracT, one of the pioneers of progressive metal subgenre djent, the pieces come together.

Tesseract has refined their art form to near perfection on their most recent album Polaris. When vivid vocal melodies intersect with sustained synthesizer chords and mathematical polyrhythms set the pace for staccato guitar riffs, it feels like being caught in a geomagnetic storm. On occasion the surrounding energy pulses settle and the beauty of it all absorbs you, just before the solar winds take control again. This summer, an all-inclusive tour of the cosmos starts from Ilosaarirock Festival.
