Wheel (FIN)

Wheel has gotten fans of progressive metal notably excited at the prospect of something very promising happening in the Finnish scene. The frontman of this extraordinary band is James Lascelles – an expat Brit with a handsome voice – and he is backed by a carefully crafted combination of highly talented musicians, who are all well-known and regarded in Finnish music circles.

Time and again Lascelles has recounted Tool as a huge influence in both his life and his musical craft. There are certainly echoes of Tool as well as grunge in Wheel’s music; the riffs are heavy, complex and dense, yet the music has a liberated feel to it.

Wheel released their debut album Moving Backwards earlier this year and found themselves showered with praise and glory – and no wonder, it is undoubtedly dynamite. Wheel are on the road to conquer the world, and one of their first stops is at the Ilosaarirock festival this July.

You should jump on this bandwagon and take the opportunity to witness the beginning of something special!
