The Joensuu Fatsos

Läskit - or The Fatsos - are a group of friends who originate from Joensuu. Nowadays most of them live near the capital, but they return to Joensuu at least once a year, around mid-June, to meet at Ilosaarirock.

Their Rok traditions include staking a claim on a land near the main stage. As long as rock has been playing on Laulurinne, The Fatsos have been lying on the grass on the right side of the mixing desk. This years they ran into a surprising problem - an group of youngsters had unknowingly stepped on holy ground. "No panic, I'm sure we'll manage to sneak our way in there", the first female Fatso to arrive ponders.

The internal discipline of the Fatsos is flexible but still strict. The Rule of Hietanen is in effect: no one can be absent from the base camp for more than an hours or their drinks are free for others to enjoy. Even as the sun sets behind the hill Laulurinne, The Fatsos keep on going.
