19:05 Let the cello sing!

Apocalyptica performed in Ilosaarirock for the first time and enthralled the sunny Northern Carelia with their versatile gig. Apocalyptica played second on the main stage, after Indica. However, lot of fans had gathered before the stage well before the band's turn. And their waiting was rewarded. Apocalyptica proved that even cellos can sing.

Two young ladies from Lieksa, Kaarina Kekkonen and Heini Hiltunen, were among the people who waited for the band to come to the stage. The girls commented that although Apocalyptica is good, they were more anxious about Sonata Arctica's and Kotiteollisuus's gigs.

The band showed to the audience that they can pull off a well polished, even theatrical performance. They also proved that you can mosh without having your hair tangled in the cello strings.

They played the best songs of their highly diverse material. There were songs from Metallica and their older albums, as well as new songs. The audience lived with the band the whole concert, screaming, dancing and clapping their hands.  Apocalyptica's first ever gig in Ilosaarirock left no doubt whether cellos can sing or not.

After the concert, the girls were excited. They hadn't known how good-looking they guys from Apocalyptica were."It's great when good-looking performers and good music combine", they said.
