Hooded Menace

A perfect combination of doom and death metal

Hooded Menace's sudden rise to stardom goes to show that the world can be your oyster when you pay enough attention to honing your act to perfection. Damn, is there anything in this band that wouldn't work? They've got merciless, uncompromising music, they're rough as hell, they wink knowingly at 1980s doom and death metal bands showing that they are familiar with the forefathers of the genre, they play breath-taking gigs, and they put effort and dedication into making their albums and selecting artwork for them. No wonder, then, that Joensuu-based Hooded Menace is very much in demand all over the world these days.

The band's two albums Fulfill the Curse (2008) and Never Cross the Dead (2010) have been unanimously praised by the metal press near and far, and the band has also recorded a split seven-inch with Asphyx, one of the genre's greats. The latest feather in the band's cap is a show at the legendary Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands, where the band was invited by no one else than Sunn O))). If you, dear festival guest, have any interest in metal music at all, you already know which is the one must-see gig at this year's Ilosaarirock Festival.
