Pop jewels with a big heart
Twelve years ago Laura Närhi sang herself to the hearts and minds of the Finnish music lovers on the Kemopetrol single Child Is My Name. The seamless union of childlike vocals and ambient backgrounds became the surprise hit in the turn of the millennium. Närhi received most of the attention, and her unique voice was wanted everywhere. Other radio hits followed, and soon Närhi's voice was known across the country.
In this light it's surprising that Laura Närhi's solo album wasn't released until 2010, but good things come to those who wait. Suuri sydän (Big Heart) includes a bunch of perfect pop jewels, and the combination of touching melodies and great harmonies work well with Närhi's beautiful vocals. The solo album has already sold platinum and people want more. Right now Närhi is wanted at Ilosaarirock Festival. Thankfully she accepted our invitation. Welcome, Laura!
