The Northern Governors
The supermen of Finnish jazz
The Northern Governors is a brand new super group from Finnish jazz virtuosos who need no introductions. The line-up is a who's who of Finnish soul and jazz: there's Antti Kujanpää in the keyboards, Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori in the trumpet, Juho Vehmanen in the bass and Petteri Sariola in the guitar among others. The band was formed when these musicians, who also happen to be relatives, started jamming together and realised that it sounded better than great. The debut album will be released in the autumn but there is a marvellous chance to come and hear this afro jazz spectacle in advance in Ilosaarirock Festival.
