Bonded by blood and passion
The Von Hertzen Brothers are riding high. Following the release of their fourth album Stars Aligned in mid-March, the band is being promoted abroad thick and fast. And when a group has more than enough skills, charisma and fantastic song material, why not? Luckily for us, the brothers have time to pop by at Ilosaarirock Festival before they disappear overseas for good.
With their 2001 album Experience, Von Hertzen Brothers filled the need for more challenging and experimental rock music that Kingston Wall had left in the Finnish music scene. Ever since the 2006 release of Approach – selling gold and winning the Emma award for the best rock album of the year – the wide Finnish rock audience has embraced the brothers heartily. It's delightful to notice how progressive rock, though usually considered difficult, has its place in mainstream as well. At the very latest this was proven by their third album, Love Remains the Same, which also sold gold and spent three weeks at the top of the official Finnish album chart right after its release.
Von Hertzen Brothers' latest album is their most ambitious and multifaceted by far. Although the band has added more pieces to their musical puzzle, the album successfully forms a harmonious entity, without losing the groove or the assertive rock'n'roll touch. And the best thing is? Von Hertzen Brothers is always at its best live. An incomparable show is guaranteed in July when the brothers perform on the main stage of Ilosaarirock for the second time.
