Saturday afternoon, clouds filling the sky over the Main Stage, the Von Hertzen Brothers take to the stage and suck the audience into a trance that is hard to describe in words. Everyone enjoys the gig in their own way. Small children dancing in couples, bigger children spinning wildly, some jamming, some just closing their eyes, maybe embracing a friend and taking a musical journey with the Von Hertzen Brothers.
The Brothers have a unique gift of transporting their audience somewhere else, to a magical land of progressive rock.Lead singer Mikko’s amazing voice worms its way into every cell. Some in the audience are laughing and singing along from the bottom of their heart; Kiss I Wish, Somewhere in the Middle, and in the final frenzy, Freedom Fighter. The atmosphere can really move you. Songs from their latest album are seamlessly blended in between the familiar radio hits.
These ecstatic gigs can become a rarity here in Finland, once they find out abroad what we have here. Luckily for us, the brothers graced the birthday party with their presence. They really are, hmm, a joy to the eye and the ear.
