Blackfield’s powerful vibe

First time visitor in Finland, Blackfield kicked off their show with intense beat. Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson took turns in sharing thoughtful lyrics with the audience, while drums and bass provided deep, resonating background that pounded in the listeners’ chests like a heartbeat. Full of intimate atmosphere and deep emotions, Blackfield’s show was truly a wonderful, one-of-a-kind experience that swept the audience off their feet and into a world of their own making.

Some may think that Blackfield’s music is perhaps even too moody and melancholy, but the Ilosaarirock crowd embraced the band whole-heartedly and relished the ambience they created.

Standing there in the middle of the tent at YleX Stage, I wondered to myself if the beating drum and heavy bass were deliberately brought to the front in search of a even more intense experience for the audience, so genuine and appropriate for the show they felt. As I moved a bit more to the side the pressure and beating lessened, yet still the music continued to pierce both body and mind.
