Whipping a storm of raised fists

Apulanta drove the audience before the Main Stage into frenzy, all without any extra gimmicks. In the Ilosaaris of the past, we’ve seen some crazy contraptions with Apulanta onstage, starting with being delivered to the stage in coffins. But now they’re an icon of Finnish rock, and three guys, a guitar, bass and drumset is all that’s needed.

Apulanta whipped up a storm of fists, and even the hardcore critics at the back of the beer area were taken in. Or they’d just given up, since Apulanta is now a staple of the Finnish music scene.

The band payed tribute to their long-term fans with several songs from their first albums, including Poistuisitko?, Aurinkoon, Elli sekä Ilona.

They totally broke the bank with Mitä kuuluu, that had the whole audience jumping. The band ended the set with a song that might have been familiar to each and everyone on the audience; Anna mulle piiskaa.
