This summer the festival goers are pampered with super lovely indie cuteness! Angus & Julia Stone, the brother-sister duo from Australia, are wildly popular in their home country and have won numerous awards. They have also toured the world and garnered high praise along the way. The band has also performed once before in Finland and their Tavastia Club gig was quickly sold out. It's no wonder, Angus and Julia Stone play damn good music!
The music of this talented duo has often been described as a gentle fusion of different musical styles that draw inspiration from the fragility of folk and the effervescence of pop, mixed with beautiful melodies and moving lyrics. Especially their new self-titled album, produced by Rick Rubin, has been well received. There is something very unique and tangible vulnerability in the songs mixed with the pious calmness of Sydney summer days.
The brother and sister duo come from a musical family and both have had extensive solo careers, and in 2006 they decided to collaborate. Since then the duo has released three albums. What separates Angus and Julia from other singer-songwriter duos is their unique ability to combine exceptionally beautiful melodies with rough lyrics – not to mention how gorgeous their voices sound together. When the opening track of the new album begins with the following words: “I met your parents, they were lying / About falling in love/ I met your parents, they were dying / About falling in love”, there is no other choice but to listen to what they have to say.
