Beres Hammond (JAM)
The king of lovers rock arrives to the Rento Stage! The honey-voiced reggae singer Beres Hammond has carried the genre's torch since the beginning of his career in the 1970s. His long career was crowned in 2012 by the success of his One Love, One Life album which hit number one on Billboard's reggae chart and earned him a Grammy nomination.
Beres Hammond represents the smooth and bright side of reggae called lovers rock. While he has dabbled with dancehall and social topics, his warm and tender voice, which evokes such soul legends as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, is at its best on soulful ballads. It is said that if you want to seduce a Jamaican woman, playing a Beres Hammond record is a good start.
