Grave Pleasures (FIN)
In the golden years of 1980s, there were some Finnish post punk bands who enjoyed much wider success abroad than in their home country. This is also true today, at least for Grave Pleasures. The band, back then performing under the name of Beastmilk, released their debut album Climax in 2013. This apocalyptic record was quickly noticed by the music journalists of Pitchfork, NME and The Guardian. This time the Finnish media were also there to praise the excellence of the band.
Self-assured, confident Grave Pleasures plays party music for funerals. Their dance of death is as gloomy as Joy Division and as groovy as Killing Joke. This combination of raw energy and grand gothic style could fill up a whole stadium. In the lingering light of a summer night, the atmosphere of their gig will be mesmerising.
