For those who seek shadows in the midst of the light of the Finnish summer, there is Moonsorrow. These messengers of darkness and despair have produced their own brand of metal for over twenty years, combining pagan elements and hauntingly beautiful melodies to leaden core. Moonsorrow's songs are artworks that last over half an hour at their best.
Founded as a two-man project by cousins Henri and Ville Sorvali, Moonsorrow has grown into a five-member band with a massive sound. Their sixth album Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa, released in 2011, is so far their darkest production. The seventh album Jumalten aika was released in April and it sets the bar again for a new level of despair and excellence. Let the darkness seep in.
