Møtions popped their festival cherry

Even though this was the first festival gig of local duo Møtions the spirit runs wild and the talent of the group was evident. The history of the band is intertwined with the history of Ilosaarirock.

Møtions played their very first festival gig at Ilosaarirock on Saturday evening and the new band charmed the festival goers. The band was founded last year by Tuomo Korander and Tommi Vatanen and they created an atmosphere the likes of clubs in Central Europe. The energetic and joyful gig included danceable electronic music as well as remixes of rap hits. Guest singer Kasii Sequeira-Uski brought something extra to the show during few appearances.

The history of Møtions is intertwined with the history of Ilosaarirock. In fact, Vatanen and Korander were inspired to make music during the gig of Imagine Dragons a few years back. Good vibes create more good vibes.

This type of EDM is not a typical sight on Soundi Stage, but Møtions took over the stage convincingly. Even the varying weather didn’t drive the festival goers away, instead the crowd leaving the gig of Sanni wandered to the Sound Stage. Though the band has little experience on gigging, their performance was thoroughly professional. The crowd was full of surprised grins. Many had wandered to the stage without knowledge of what was happening there.

The producer pair has released just a couple of songs, but they are moving ahead determinedly. It is easy to see that they will go far at the latest when they have a full record of released material. Don’t be surprised if the world takes this pair away from Joensuu. The band is already getting interest at least in Sweden.
