For the first time since 2013, Nightwish, the master of symphonic metal, returns to Ilosaarirock Festival! As Joensuu and North Carelia are more or less the home regions for Nightwish, their gigs here are always extra special treats for the diehard fans.

This year Nightwish celebrates its 20-year-old career by releasing a double album Decades and hitting the road for a nine-month-long world tour which includes Ilosaarirock, too. On this tour, the band will perform whole new arrangements of the rare diamonds of their discography. And of course, we will definitely hear some of their most loved hits.

Few bands have been able to build their career in such a strong and steady fashion as Nightwish. Despite some line-up changes over the years, Nightwish has managed to surpass itself by each album and tour. The audiences have become more massive, but so has songwriter Tuomas Holopainen's ambition. Compositions and arrangements are already high and grandiose like cathedrals, while still being full of sound and fury. It will be exciting to hear how the old songs have been transformed for this tour.
