If you are into Brit-influenced indie rock, then make some space in your festival diary now: Elias Gould and his long-awaited debut album are making their way to Ilosaarirock Festival! Elias Gould, who hails from the bohemian neighbourhood of Kallio in Helsinki, released his debut EP in 2015 – and no matter where you went, everyone seemed to be singing Gould’s hit single Huvilakatu in unison.
After seeing his live gig in 2017, i-D magazine from the UK bestowed Elias Gould with the title of the ‘next big thing to come from Finland’. In June 2019 his patient fans will finally be able to get their hands on the debut album that has created such a buzz in the scene, even long before its release. His most recent singles, such as Maaliskuu and Älä anna mulle piiskaa, are perfect summer chilling fare: they fit the festival scene just like a sausage fits a hot dog.
Come this July, we will be ready and waiting as Elias Gould turns up at Ilosaarirock to serve us a delicious feast of pop with all the trimmings. Oh the bliss!
