It was like a tornado had hit Finnish music circles when musicians Jukka Jylli and Sami ‘Kuoppis’ Kuoppamäki announced that they are planning to resurrect the legendary prog band Kingston Wall, in order to commemorate what would have been late band member Petri Walli’s 50th birthday. Walli, whose music was largely influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, was the founder, guitarist and song writer of Kingston Wall. To fill the void left by Walli, original band members Jylli and Kuoppis roped in the hottest trio from the Finnish prog scene – the Von Hertzen Brothers – to stand in for him. The birthday gig held in Helsinki sold out in seconds, as did the national tour that followed.
As a result of high demand, and to offer their fans one more chance to hear some of Petri Walli’s epic tunes played live, Kingston Wall, along with the Von Hertzen Borthers, have agreed to play selected festival gigs during the summer.
