For decades, MONO has been at the forefront of the post-rock scene and enjoyed the unconditional appreciation of both critics and fans. One of the best-known Japanese bands to gain international recognition, MONO’s music is both light and dark, combining exhilarating and intense blare with beautiful, purifying melodies. Moreover, the band’s theatrical instrumental passages and hypnotic vamps are always constructed with piety, allowing listeners to lose themselves in the music.
In 2019 MONO are celebrating their 20th anniversary, and have just released their 10th album Nowhere Now Here. The new album is even more self-assured and ambitious than its predecessors and can be described as a journey in experimentation and texture. Mono are sweeping onto the stage at Ilosaarirock this summer, and if the likes of Sigur Rós, Goodspeed You!, Black Emperor or Magyar Posse fire you up, you simply cannot miss this show!
