If the punk rock troupe Pää Kii was born in London, their pictures would be constantly plastered all over the top music magazines – that’s just how good they are! Pää Kii is exactly what you’d expect from the perfect rock band: their back story is filled with tattered details, the earworm-like songs cling to you like leeches and the non-conformist lead singer, Teemu Bergman, couldn’t give a flying fiddle if the stuff that comes out of his mouth is PC or not. Pää Kii’s catchy lyrics take the listener to deep places while railing against the system that forgets about the poor and ill-fated. The band are spot on in their observations, but the way the message is delivered is never preachy.
Pää Kii surprised their fans last autumn by releasing their second album, Jos huonoo onnee ei ois mul ei ois onnee ollenkaan after keeping a low profile for a while. Their debut album, Pää Kii became an instant punk rock classic and received rave reviews and multiple music awards. The new album continues from where the first one left off: the material is just as brilliant and explosive, and confirms what we knew already: Pää Kii is the king of Finnish punk, without a doubt.
