Hailing from Manchester, the Mecca of modern indie music, Pale Waves released their debut album, My Mind Makes Noises, in September 2018 and instantly caused a stir in the global music scene. This summer they are bringing their world tour to Finland for the first time, and visitors to Ilosaarirock will get a taste of Pale Waves and their soul-soothing melodies. Their much-acclaimed sound is all about dominating synths and chugging guitars, and it deceivingly brings to mind The 1975, who stole the show and won many hearts at Ilosaarirock in 2016. The connection is clear when you discover that The 1975’s Matt Healy and George Daniel are in fact patrons of Pale Waves, and co-produced their first singles.
Pale Waves manage to be both intimate and whole-hearted while maintaining an alluring distance from their audiences – a juxtaposition that is guaranteed to make it one of the most memorable gigs of summer 2019.
