Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana is undoubtedly the best hip-hop / jazz big band in Finland, if not in the entire world! The 20-musician-strong ensemble was born in 2013 when leading Finnish jazz combo Ricky-Tick Big Band joined forces with three highly regarded rap artists Paleface, Redrama and Tommy Lindgren.
So, what happens when you bring some of the most talented jazz musicians in the country and the pioneers of Finnish rap music together? – Party of the century, my dear friend! Since 2013, Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana have released three critically acclaimed albums and entertained audiences night after night. When these guys enter the stage, you know you’re in for a bona fide treat.
However, sometimes diamonds are not forever: in January, to the huge disappointment of their fans, Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana announced that they are going their separate ways at the end of 2019. Fortunately, they agreed to throw a gig at Ilosaarirock this July, giving us one more chance to enjoy the mind-blowing energy and brilliance of this stellar band. As far as farewell parties go, this is one you do not want to miss!
