The HU (MNG)

The HU

One of the more astonishing musical breakthroughs in recent times has been a metal band that create their sound using traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing. Hailing from Ulaanbaatar, The Hu became internationally renowned when they released their fantastic debut album, The Gereg, in autumn 2019, which then became a viral sensation. Their spectacular music videos have been viewed tens of millions of times and the band's gigs sell out in a matter of days, irrespective of which continent they happen to land in.

A beautiful blend of east meets west, The Hu tell their stories in their native language, using the ancient art of khoomei – Mongolian throat singing. Their tracks combine medieval Asian ambience with western metal, rock and blues, which results in a hypnotic sound that simply must be experienced live. Let us make this clear, this gig is going to be unlike anything else you’ve ever seen. As one fan succinctly put it: ‘In a world full of Taylor Swifts, it is so refreshing to see a Mongolian metal band’.
