MELO is one of the more interesting rap artists to emerge in the recent years and someone to keep an eye on. The young talent, who released his debut album FREDA 4EVA in 2018, represents a fresh crop of Finnish rappers who are ready to take over the scene and define the sound of the next decade. However, what makes MELO stand out from the crowd are the slightly darker tones of his music, and his ability to skillfully fuse the characteristics of conscious hip hop with emo elements.
Some of his biggest hits, such as Volkswagen, Tien pääl and Marimekko, have been streamed millions of times, proving that there is a huge demand for emo rap in Finland. Despite being a relatively new face on the scene, MELO has already made his mark by combining a highly refined sound with topical lyrics that hit the mark, winning over fans and critics alike.
Only a fool would miss the opportunity to witness the first Ilosaarirock gig of this forerunner of the next wave of Finnish rap. It has all the ingredients to be a legendary performance.
