Getting To And From Joensuu
The Ilosaarirock festival takes place in the Laulurinne park (Google Maps: Linnunlahdentie 3), which is located approximately one kilometre from the Joensuu city centre. The Joensuu railway station and bus stops are less than two kilometres from the Ilosaarirock festival site. The free-of-charge “Rokkibussi” festival shuttle buses run between the railway station and festival site Laulurinne.
The city of Joensuu is located in the North Karelia region in Eastern Finland. The city is easily reached by train, bus, air or by car. As an environmentally friendly festival, we warmly recommend festival-goers to use public transport or travel by car share.
By Train
Taking a train is an easy way to travel to Joensuu! The Joensuu railway station is located in the immediate vicinity of the city centre and approximately 1.5 kilometres from the festival grounds. Free-of-charge “Rokkibussi” festival shuttle buses transport festival-goers from the railway station to the Ilosaarirock festival site around the arrival times of the most popular trains on Friday and Saturday, as well as from the festival site back to the railway station on Sunday.
Car Share And Coaches
If you are driving to Ilosaarirock, it’s a great idea to load up the car with other festival-goers! There are a number of car-sharing organisations which pair drivers with passengers. You could also check out the car share (“kimppakyyti”) groups on Facebook.
Audience transport to and from Ilosaarirock puts more strain on the environment than any other aspect of the event. That’s why we encourage those driving over to take a car full of passengers with them. In addition to saving money and having fun company for the ride, you’ll be doing Mother Nature a favour too!
Bus time tables and ticket prices can be found easily by using e.g. the Perille.fi online service.
