HEALTH AND SAFETY

Safety and enjoyment go hand in hand especially in big outdoor events. It doesn’t matter if this your twentieth or your first festival experience, please read on.

Safety first

Ilosaarirock strives to be a safe and enjoyable festival.

ALWAYS…

  • Know where your nearest emergency exits are
  • Follow the instructions of Security personnel, Police or other Officials
  • Move away promptly from any danger
  • Notify Security personnel, Police or Official if you see any antisocial behaviour
  • Move to where there is more space, should a crowd surge occur
  • Ask for help if you need it and help others, especially if someone falls
  • ABANDONMENT IS A CRIME
  • Stay calm (if you are distressed, ask to be taken to the First Aid tent)

ALCOHOL

The law does not allow you to bring any containers of fluid into the festival site, which may contain alcohol. There are alcohols deposits at the gate where you can leave your drinks. Only plastic soft drink or water containers are allowed. The Security personnel have a right to make spot checks by smelling the contents of your fluid container. There are two large bar areas serving beer, cider & soft drinks and by law you have to be 18 years old to be served any alcohol, so don’t take any chances and be prepared to prove your age. In Finland only official ID cards with a picture are accepted. Children are NOT allowed in the bar areas.

Don’t become dehydrated due to depletion of fluids as alcohol does have a dehydrating and it’s a long day. Pace yourself and keep hydrated with soft drinks or water. Watch your fluid intake and carry some water around with you. The taps at the water points are available all weekend and soft drinks can be bought all around festival site.

No glass containers are allowed into the festival site.

ILLEGAL DRUGS

Drugs, hard or soft are no more legal at festivals than they are anywhere else, the same penalties and risks apply. Festivals and large crowds can be disorientating experiences so this is definitely NOT the place to start experimenting. And remember, there are security staff and police throughout the site and the surrounding areas.

FIRST AID

There is a First Aid tent will provide medical and fist aid services and is situated by the main gate at the festival site and operates throughout the festival. Make sure you bring your usual medication, antihistamines and inhaler, etc. and tell your friends of any allergies you have.

LOST AND FOUND

Festival Info office near the main gate is where found property ends up. After the festival all valuable found property, telephones, cameras etc. goes to Joensuu Police station. Clothes, tents, sleeping bag’s etc. will end up in the Pop office, Rantakatu 25 A 1, Joensuu.

MEETING POINT

Meeting point is by the SONERA.

All recordings of live performances are forbidden under Copyright law § 2. Section 45.
