Even without hearing the music that mixes flowing rhythms with vintage synth sounds, you could recognise Aavikko by their audience and by the wobbly samba-like dance the crowd immerses themselves into. Equally worth mentioning is the band's knack to make your imagination dance. Colourful, ingenuous tones together with eloquent song titles – which often find their inspiration from bureaucratic terms – fill your mind with images of strong medication, mad scientists or ancient video games.
Aavikko, a band with a respectable series of performances all around the world under their belts, consists of two keyboardists and a drummer. This minute set of musicians can create a magical world full of danceable music with fine combinations of acoustic and electric drums, not to mention the unique Yamaha keyboard sounds that have grown softer and fuller as the band has reached a more mature age.
