Now let me first issue a word of warning. They are not women, although they wear skirts and make-up. And this is not an ordinary rock band. Instead of electric guitars and such instruments traditionally associated with rock music, Cleaning Women makes music with clothes racks. Yes, that's right. And their songs are mainly about cleaning. Even so, they manage to mix rather avantgardist attitudes with traditions of popular music with impeccable style. Their first album Pulsator (2001) attracted interest all over the world and won the band invitations to art exhibitions as well as rock clubs. Cleaning Women's latest release is last year's Aelita, which is mostly based on a Soviet silent sci-fi film.
