  ELÄKELÄISET

If you still don't know what "humppa" is or how it is possible that a band called Eläkeläiset (The Pensioners in English) have made wild the youth both in Finland and in other countries too, you certainly have missed something. Luckily, you can catch up by joining in the wild "letkajenkka" dance that is a must every time when these kings of humppa are on stage.

Eläkeläiset have been spreading the gospel of East Finland madness to the world for more than ten years now, and it is just getting bigger and better. Although most of their songs are humppa versions of well-known rock and pop classics, during the last few years some original songs have been added to the set too, and the effect is in no way less mind-blowing. The code of conduct for the humppa marathon: wear a suit and hear the good news. If you really want to be a part of Eläkeläiset summer style, cut off the legs of your best Sunday trousers and wear them as shorts.
