The pallid relationship drivel that so many bands torture their listeners' ears with is not Folkswagen's cup of tea. Instead, they choose to sing about the ancient threesome between Finland, Russia and Karelia (the region that lies between the other two). It is no wonder that this peculiar approach has provoked interest and made friends on both sides of the Finnish-Russian border. Folkswagen is the father of two critically acclaimed albums Matkaselän asemalla (2003) and Karjalan balsamia (2005), but even so, they are definitely best enjoyed live. Their ability to rise mayhem and rapture anywhere they go reveals the fact that these men are unquestionably a part of the long tradition of eastern Finnish madness.
