Ville Leinonen is one of the most exciting personalities of the new Finnish songwriting generation. Chameleon-like Leinonen became first known in 2000 with his self-titled debut album which contained nine eccentric rock schlagers, ones that somehow — but not quite — resembled the songs that middle-aged Finns dance to in social dancing nights. On his next album (Kimaltavia unelmia, 2001) Leinonen moved on to a slower, more melancholic mood.
Leinonen has also played without his loyal backing band and released solo albums, such as Suudelmitar, one of the most moving Finnish records last year. This year's Valloittaja brings along a more rock-orientated tone, which simply can't fail to work like magic on the summer's festivals.
